This is a lovely loop trail on the island of Rangitoto, right off the coast of Auckland accessible via ferry. The trail begins from the ferry terminal and goes around half of the island.
A few kilometres away from the mainland, this island has been left intact. Wooded areas lead to open air vistas making for a varied hike. The views of the cityscape in the distance are simply wonderful and the Lava Caves are fun to explore (bringing a headlamp is a good idea).
