How to import a GPX trail?

How to import and preview a GPX trail?

Here is everything you need to know to import GPX trails from other sources or your own creation, so you can use Hika on an infinity of trails.

How to import a trail with Hika?

1) Download the Hika app

2) Create an account (free)

3) Open Hika's "Hike" tab, then select "Import GPX"

After importing the GPX file, you can view the route on the map, and start the recording mode.

What conditions must the file respect?

  • The file must be in a GPX format
  • In the case of a file with several segments, they will be merged into a single route
  • If there is no elevation data for some points, all elevation data in the trail will be ignored

Where to find trails?

Import existing trails

Many sites allow you to download trails in GPX format. This is particularly the case for tourist office sites, or many services similar to Hika, such as Visorando or the FFR site.

Creating your own routes

Many tools also allow you to create your own custom trail. Our preference goes for:

🖥️ GPX Studio (free) on the web

📱 Footpath (paid) on mobile

If you encounter a problem or have a suggestion regarding the route import, do not hesitate to share them with us at contact@hika.app.
