On the edge of Poway, this there-and-back trail to Potato Chip Rock following Mt. Woodson Trail is a great hike for a day out away from the San Diego bustle. Beginning by Lake Poway Recreation Area, the trail is moderate and meanders through the southern California landscape and leads to a unique rock formation aptly named Potato Chip Rock. The trail has no shade and follows a rocky footpath on a medium uphill gradient. The views over the rolling hills with their shrubs are simply lovely. The trail can get quite busy as it is one of the most popular ones in Poway.
