This is a loop around the Uluru base, a half a billion year old sandstone monolith, near Alice Springs in the Central Australian desert. The walk moves around the circumference of the monolith and allies natural beauty with rich ancient and current tradition. Surrounded by native vegetation, acacia and dry grasses, Uluru holds ancient wisdom, creation stories and memories. This walk is moderate with mostly flat terrain.
The Anangu people are the Traditional Owners of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Mala Puta is an Anangu women’s site and is sacred under Tjukurpa (Traditional law). It is inappropriate to take photographs of this site.
