In line with the previous one, this stage begins by taking a crest to Punta di a Scaddatta. The trail then descends to the Cuscionu plateau, quietly following a river and the sheepfolds of Bassetta.
The stage via Matalza was added in the early 2010s, but there is still the previous variant allowing Usciolu and Asinau to be reached in one day, via the Luana pass and under the Concatellu ridges. This more mountainous alternative is about 16 kilometers long, and the fork is at Bocca di l'Agnone.
