Discover this epic and challenging route to Helvellyn, walking along Striding and Swirral Edge in the Lake District National Park. Quickly after the beginning, the path becomes quite steep, following Mire Becksand; the closer to the summit the narrower and rockier the path becomes. Hikers will have to be on their hands and scramble to reach the top. The way down is also very steep and rocky close to the summit. People with a fear of heights shouldn’t undertake this route. The views at the top are incredible and well worth the effort. The panoramic views on the Red Tarn, Thirlmere and the surrounding peaks of the Lake District are a real spectacle.
