This is an easy loop in the Peak District National Park to the sight of an American bomber plane crash and the Higher Shelf Stones, a lovely rock formation on the way. The route combines a dirt trail and narrow paved footpaths with wide and quaint vistas on the hilly landscape. The plane crashed near the summit in 1948 during a routine domestic flight between two UK bases. The trail can be a little busy at the height of the season.
