This is the first leg of the GR20 in the North-South direction. With 1,371 meters, this is the biggest elevation gain of the 16 legs.
The path leaves the village of Calenzana and quickly passes the only fountain of this leg, the funtana di Ortivinti. It then climbs to the Bocca pass at u Bazzichellu, passing through the promontory of Arghjova and Bocca a U saltu. The sea view is magnificent, stretching all the way to Calvi.
Finally, just follow a crest to the refuge of Ortu di U Piobbu.
