This is a there-and-back trail with a small loop before turning back, located just over an hour from Christchurch. The track begins near the Mt Hutt Lodge and follows the Rakaia river, with beautiful open landscapes all around. It can often be a bit muddy. The fields in the foreground give way to the rising majestic Mt Hutt Range and its snowy peaks in the distance. The turquoise blue of the river is captivating.
