This is a glorious hike up to the Blue Lake in the Tongariro National Park. Starting by Mangetepopo road, this trail is long and difficult, with a progressive climb and a few narrow passages with rocks. The views on the way and at the top are spectacular. The mountains vary from red to yellow and ochre rocks, and the emerald lake triad at the summit is simply mesmerising.
