Here is a nice walk around Bar-le-Duc. The route loops around the departmental road 1916, also called the "Voie Sacrée" or "Sacred Way", which was a vital logistical artery linking the Verdun front to the rear, towards Bar-le-Duc. Millions of men and thousands of munitions transited night and day on this road that the writer, Maurice Barrès, nicknamed the Voie Sacrée.
This hike is therefore done in a place full of history, but not only, because the woods and the fields crossed give their full share to nature.
