This is a difficult there-and-back trail all the way up Mount Taranaki (2,518m) in the Egmont National Park starting near the Plateau summit (1,172m). In Maori culture, Mount Taranaki is sacred and should be respected as such.
The trail begins with steep stairs and carries on in steep terrain and sometimes slippery concrete. The views at the top are incredible and come as a well deserved reward after the challenging hike.
Note that this is a hike for experimented hikers.
