Stretching over 400 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea, the Pyrenees form a natural barrier separating France from Spain.

Less famous and frequented than the Alps, the Pyrenees do not have to be ashamed of this competition. On the French side alone, there is a summit of nearly 3,300 meters, numerous spectacular waterfalls sometimes reaching more than 400 meters high, and even lakes galore.

But what we remember about the Pyrenees is the wild and preserved character of its landscapes, giving them and authentic charm.

The tour of the Pic du Midi d’Ossau

This emblematic trail offers magnificent views of the Pic du Midi d'Ossau, 2,884 meters high. The route allows you to immerse yourself in the diversity of the Pyrenean landscapes while going around the majestic peak, passing in particular through the Ayous lakes.


Lake of Gaube

Starting from the Pont d'Espagne, this route runs along the Gave de Gaube and its small waterfalls, to reach one of the most beautiful lakes in the Pyrenees: Lake Gaube. Located in the heart of the Pyrenees national park, this large natural lake reflects the Vignemale massif.


The Cirque de Gavarnie

This is quite simply one of the most beautiful walks in France, within a spectacular cirque housing the highest waterfall in France with more than 400 meters. This led to it to being listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.


The Cirque de Troumouse

Less frequented than its neighbor Gavarnie but just as impressive, the Troumouse cirque transports you into a world of solitude and raw beauty. And its cliffs, marking the border with Spain, are simply grandiose.


Madamète’s peak

Superb hike leading to the Madamète peak (2,657m) and passing close to numerous mountain lakes. On the way out, the trail runs along the Coueyla-Grand and Madamète lakes before arriving at the summit. This offers an exceptional view of the Néouvielle massif.


The Néouvielle lakes

Each lake has its own character, inviting you to lose yourself in contemplation. The magic of these natural mirrors nestled in the mountains operates in all simplicity.


Lac d'Ôo

This is a there and back trail to Lake d'Ôo and its beautiful 275 meter high waterfall. The climb is done on a relatively wide and shaded track, heavily frequented in summer.


The Ars waterfall

Departing from Aulus-Les-Bains, this path leads to the Ars waterfall. This consists of a first fall of 100 meters high, then several smaller falls, totaling a height of 246 meters. Spectacular, it is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Pyrenees.


Carlit Peak

The views at the summit stretch as far as the eye can see, rewarding efforts of the difficult climb. The view of the valleys below and the surrounding ridges recalls the grandeur of nature.


The Carança gorges

We end this selection with the exploration of the Carança gorges, a rocky labyrinth sculpted by natural elements. The trail winds along the river and suspended footbridges guide the adventure, making this outing very fun. A delight !
